Glad you could make it to my site. As you can see by the previous other pages, this is a work in progress, and I apologize for not having it together yet. There is much to be done, and little time to do it in.
All the design, writing, and layout work is being done by me. Frankly, it is difficult, but I do not have the mega-loot to hire a web page designer, so I am plodding along on my own.
All those acid trips, and hanging out in Detroit dope houses, and alleys took its toll on me, so I am a little slower these days.
I wasn't really warned about experimenting with drugs back in the day, but those concerts in the late 60s, and 70s just didn't seem the same without drugs. The 1977 Led Zepplin concert at the Pontiac Silverdome was rockin' with 70,000 people, and I was there lit up like a Christmas tree on Thai stick weed, and some mescaline. If only I had known what I was doing.
The drug lifestyle cost me over 36 years of my life, 20+ years spent in prisons. And it wasn't a picnic, for sure. Swore up, down, and sideways that this was going to be the last time in prison, and using drugs each time I got out.
From 1968 until 2004, there were multiple drug treatment attempts, both forced and voluntary, including methadone, Suboxone, and many, many cold-turkey detoxes. Nightmares, all of it, and nothing seemed to work.
Having been a substance abuse counselor at SHAR House in Detroit in the early 90's didn't even save me from myself. I was just getting started, and that was even after a high-speed police chase in 1981 that ended up with me crashing, being launched out of the T-tops, and the vehicle tumbling after me until it landed on my abdomen crushing me. Ended up dying, but the doctors at University of Michigan Hospital saved my life, and I suspect someone with quite a bit more power, and wisdom had a hand in it as well. I split my liver, and lost a kidney from that idiocy, but like I said, I was just getting warmed up for more nightmares in my drug addiction.
Today I write about substance abuse on Examiner.com as the Detroit Substance Abuse Examiner. I am also a freelance writer on eHow for Demand Studios. I wrote a book titled Crash Test Addict, for obvious reasons, that I am trying to get published. However, life goes on, and I keep adding to it. I also am a paralegal, and researched and wrote many criminal appeals for guys in prison., but I am not employed as one now.
Since 2004, I turned my life around, and know deep down that I hit my bottom, and I do mean bottom. Heroin, or opiate addiction is one of the most insidious addictions on the planet. The sad part is that the success rate for recovery is dismal after 1 year clean for most opiate addicts, and even other drug addicts as well. However, I figured it out, and there isn't any secret formula, or potion you need to get off drugs, and remain that way. If I can do it, anyone can.
Email me for confidential help. I do not charge a fee, or ask for donations. Many desperate parents have emailed me about one of their children on drugs, or they suspect it, and I do what I can to help them. Reading about the drug culture from those who have been there and done that is one of the better ways to learn the ropes. Educating yourself, so you can pass it on to your children is one of the best ways to help ensure they won't end up like I did.
You can find me on Examiner, Twitter, Facebook, Wordpress, and Linkedin, as Crash Test Addict educating people about drug abuse and addiction, as well as those already suffering from the the condition.
In any event, keep coming back to check out my site. I'm in this for the long haul.
